Characteristics
- Crickets love dark, damp spaces and commonly invade basements
- Male crickets chirp by rubbing their back legs together in order to attract a mate
- Crickets can cause damage by feeding on natural fibers and fabrics
Crickets are somewhat related to grasshoppers and have a similar body structure and hind legs. While crickets are harmless to humans they are messy and can damage natural fibers which they feed upon. Crickets are well known for their ability to chirp. They accomplish this by rubbing their back legs together and using its wings to amplify the noise. In large numbers, the chirp can be rather loud and annoying.
