Brown-Banded Cockroach
Characteristics
- Their droppings are often noticed as black smears on crown molding, light fixtures and pictures mounted high on the wall
- A single roach usually indicates a much larger infestation
- This cockroach has two light-colored bands across the abdomen and wings
Brown-banded cockroaches are among the smallest roaches that invade homes. They prefer relatively dry areas that are much warmer than other roaches. They are often found in attics, ceilings, and around appliances. They will eat most food they come across but prefer items that are high in starch, such as glue, stamps, and book binding. All roaches are nocturnal but these roaches are the most likely to be seen during the day.
