Citronella ants are a type of moisture ants and build their nests in high moisture areas. These ants feed off of honeydew, a by-product of insects feeding on plant roots and often go unnoticed. Inside the home, they can be found in crawl spaces and basements. They will nest within rotten wood that has been damaged by fungus or termites. These ants are usually an indicator of a larger moisture problems and more serious pests such as termites.
