Nonvenomous
While Alabama is home to only 6 venomous snakes, there are many nonvenomous species common in the state. Snakes perform an important role in limiting the number of pests such as rats and mice. While most snakes aren't a danger to humans, most people prefer not to have them near their home or business.
Many nonvenomous snakes imitate their venomous counterparts in order to ward off threats. However, many of the differences require close observation of the snake to determine. It is not recommended to get near any unknown snake. If you have a snake and would like it remove please call a pest control professional.
